Yosemite

One of the highlights of our "Rundreise" in the Southwest was always going to be Yosemite Park. But i did not realize that i would be as impressed as i was. Similar to the Grand Canyon, this place is pretty awesome. This was particularly emphasized with the very first sights we saw: Sequoia trees.

One word, again: unbelievable. The trees live up to about 3200 years! They reach their maximum height at about 800 years, and then just begin to increase girth ater that.

This particular one fell over about 300 years ago! That is another peculiar charactieristic of these trees: they discompose ever so slowly.

Some additional interesting history on these trees is that they are a bit brittle. Which prevented them from being cut for industrial purposes. Basically, they are no good for anything industrial, so that saved them!

The girls had enough hiking, already!

And lots of waterfalls and mountains.
